Leadership Development Program (LDP) Letter

I am writing you today to share some exciting news with your concerning <child_long_name>. <He/She> has been accepted into Compassion's Leadership Development Program (LDP) and plans to pursue a degree in <Degree> at the University of <University name>. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for encouraging <child_short_name> with your support, letters, and prayers. Your faithfulness and commitment shown towards <child_short_name> truly made a difference in <his/her> acceptance into the LDP.

Let me take a moment to tell you about the Leadership Development Program and what this acceptance signifies for <child_short_name>. The LDP is a scholarship program that provides exceptional young men and women with an opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education. LDP participants will receive a scholarship from Compassion to attend a University of their choice. In addition to their formal education they will also receive counseling and tutoring to help adjust to their new environment, while attending seminars and retreats that will promote Christian characteristics while cultivating leadership potential.

Earning admission is an incredible honor! Less than one percent of all Compassion-assisted children who graduate qualify for the LDP. <child_short_name> was selected because of <his/her> <reason accepted>.

This opportunity will change <child_short_name>'s role within Compassion's program. <He/She> will leave the "Learning for Life" program provided by your sponorship, in order to pursue a post-secondary education. Although, <child_short_name> is leaving the Learning for Life program, you still have an opportunity to sponsor <child_short_name> in the LDP. Due to tuition, books, school expenses, and in some cases room and board, the cost for a LDP sponsorship is $200 a month. We understand this this monthly contribution may be out of reach for some of our sponsor, and have decided to honor the relationship that you have already established with <child_short_name> by offering you alternatives that may allow you to continue to be a part of <his/her> life. I ask that you review the information enclosed and prayerfully consider sponsoring <child_short_name> in the LDP.
